Spring 2012: In the Beginning - arrived in Moab, UT

Our new adventure has started. We left Thursday (3/15) around lunch and made it to a Wal-Mart in West Memphis, Arkansas. Friday (3/16) we made it all the way to Amarillo Texas. All uneventful so far. Sounds a little boring, right? Well let’s fix that. Friday (3/17) we were traveling north of Albuquerque New Mexico on a long desert road and had the right front tire blow. Vaughan managed to get us on the shoulder safely, but we were both pretty shaken. We luckily had cell phone service (1 bar) and were able to call a tow service. Three hours later we had 2 new front tires (replaced the driver side to be safe) and had $1200 less in our wallets. We spent the night beside (and inside) the Ute Mountain Casino in Towaoc, Colorado. Today, Sunday, we made it to Moab, Utah where we will be spending this first month. It’s been snowing and very windy but is supposed to be in the 70’s at the end of the week.

Spring 2012: Getting Ready

We are about to embark on a new adventure. The first month we will be back to Moab, Utah - Vaughan's favorite place. We will be there from March 19 through April 19. We already have a Jeep camping trip scheduled for the first weekend we are there. We will be riding the White Rim Trail in Canyonlands National Park spending 2 nights under the stars (I'll be sleeping in the Jeep). April 19 through May 18 we will be in Page, Arizona near Lake Powell. We're hoping to hike into Coyote Buttes (The Wave) - one of the most photographed places in the world.

I will attempt to download a few pictures each day for those who wish to see if I'm still alive.

Vaughan is bringing his dirt bike and his mountain bike. I'm bringing my cat Buddy to keep me company while he is out on the trails.
