4/3 (Sunday) – Canyonlands in UT has a lesser traveled section
called Horseshoe Canyon. It’s lesser
traveled because you first have a 30 mile drive on washboard dirt roads, then
a 7 mile round-trip hike that drops you 700 feet into the bottom of the canyon
(about 1.5 miles). Why did we do this? There are 4 distinct pictograph panels over a
2 mile stretch. Historians say they are
dated from 200BC to 500AD. They were
amazing.
This was already 1 mile down and we still had to get to the bottom (and then back out).

and finally - The Great Gallery
Now for the rest of the hike - lots of water crossings but no wet feet.
Also, made a friend along the way.
Interesting site on the drive out - sand dunes with snow covered mountains in the background.
