2022 - West - June 7 - Escalante UT - Red Canyon & Mossy Cave

Yesterday (June 6th) we left Kanab, UT and moved the coach 150 miles north to Escalante UT.  The road took us by some favorite places we had visited several times - Red Canyon and Bryce Canyon.

As we passed thru Red Canyon on HW 12, we saw the bike path that parallels the highway.  Having our e-bikes with us, it would have been nice to ride there but there was nowhere to park our big rig conveniently, so we just continued on for 50 miles to the RV park.

Today (June 7th) as usual Vaughan can't sit still for a day.  We decided to drive the Jeep back to Red Canyon and do the bike trail. It's fully paved and goes through some of the prettiest areas in Utah. So glad we have e-bikes now. I would have never made it - five miles uphill and then five miles back down.  Downhill is definitely easier, but uphill was not that bad with the motor assist.

On our way back to Escalante we found another short hike - Mossy Cave. It's actually park of Bryce Canyon NP.  Although it was only 1 mile, the views were incredible!  Most of the walk was next to a running stream - one of only a few we've seen with water since we started this journey. The cave/alcove was cool, but not as cool as the waterfall.

The trees here amaze me - they are so twisted. You can really see it after they fall.

I love waterfalls!!

Standing near the top of the waterfall.

This is the mossy cave.

Another great day!
