From Moab we took the RV to Farmington NM. A friend had told Vaughan about this area that many tourists do not go.
Bisti / De-Na-Zin is Najaho for Standing Crane. There are petroglyphs throughout the area of cranes. This area was not really recognized until 1984. It was once covered with water and is made up of layers of sandstone, mudstone, shale, and coal. The years have uncovered petrified stumps and have created some very cool hoodoos.
These crystals are growing out of the rocks.

What a great site! I can't help but think of it as it was for a few million years... under water! I've loved the desert too, most of my life. Cool Beans Vaughan and Julie, Chip Furlong
