Monday
happened to be laundry and grocery day for me.
It is amazing how much food you have to buy when you have to cook – that
is one of the reasons I have avoided it in the past. Tuesday we went back to watch the crazies on
the Moab Rim driving their Jeeps up the cliffs.
There are so many Jeeps in town that came in so pretty and now look like
they have been in some kind of demolition derby and are covered in red dust. Today (Wed) Vaughan hired a guy to take him out for the
day on a few motorcycle trails. He
rented a real bike (GasGas 300) and they rode 79 miles through some pretty
hairy areas (trails: 7-Mile Rim, Wipe-out Hill, Hey
Joe Canyon ,
and Bartletts Wash ).
He only fell once, christened his new cycle pants and shirt, but only
took off a little skin on his arm – thanks to padding. He know freely admits he is older than he
thought. Later we went to the Jeep
exhibit in town for a test drive (and free t-shirts, coffee mugs, lip gloss,
flashlights, backpacks, etc.).
Cliff on your left. Cliff in front. Turn Right!!! Turn Right!!!
Can your wheels move like this?

You can see Monitor and Merrimack in the background.
A closer look at Monitor and Merrimack - named for the 2 Civil War ships.
The trail took Vaughan circling around their bases.
This is the hill that taught Vaughan how old he really is.
At least it didn't spoil his day. It is much steeper than it looks in the picture.
This is Hey Joe Canyon and the spot they had their lunch.
There is an old crashed truck at the bottom but Vaughan said walking to the edge of a 600 foot cliff in motocross boots was probably not a good idea.
This is a shot at the bottom of the canyon at the Green River.
