August 15 - Our last day in Anaconda MT. We rode bikes on the Copperway Trail along a pretty creek lined with Black-eyed Susans.
August 16 - drove from Anaconda to West Glacier. Upon arrival we discovered that the area has had a number of forest fires that was currently consuming thousands of acres of timber. You could barely see the mountains because of the smoke and the sun was bright red.
We drove into Glacier along McDonald Lake. What was normally the clearest, crispest air in the country now looked like this.
We drove down to Columbia Falls for dinner at the Gunsight Saloon. There was a great bluegrass band but while there the fire fighting airplanes were flying overhead.
