2023 - West - Cody WY - Beartooth Highway - August 10-11

August 10 - Drove through the southern half of Bighorn National Forest to Cody Wyoming.  This was a little un-nerving through the mountains with their long uphill climbs, switchbacks, and then steep grade downhills. We have been to Cody before and always stop in at Irmas, named for Buffalo Bill Cody's daughter.

They always have a gunfight right outside the hotel/saloon. We missed it but did not miss petting the horses. If you will notice, this horse is still standing higher than Jill and me, yet we are 2 steps up. He stood 19 hands high - incredible!

August 11 - Decided to drive the Beartooth Highway. In 2010 we attempted to make the drive but the roads still had over 15 feet of snow.  This year we were successful. Our journey started  with the Chief Joseph Scenic Byway.

If you know me, you know I love all little creatures. This bee caught my attention.

Here is Jill shaking hands with a chipmunk (actually she bribed him with a nut). Chipmunks were everywhere we stopped and not shy.

Another beautiful waterfall -

Just before our turn onto the Beartooth Highway we had an incredible view of Pilot Peak,

I had this little fellow eating out of my hand.
